We all know how this ends
Lessons about life and living from working with death and dying
'Encouraging and inspiring' - Dr Kathryn Mannix, author of Amazon bestseller With the End in Mind
We all know how this ends is a new approach to death and dying, showing how exploring our mortality really can change our lives.
End-of-life doula Anna Lyons and funeral director Louise Winter have joined forces to share a collection of the heartbreaking, surprising and uplifting stories of the ordinary and extraordinary lives they encounter every single day.
From working with the living, the dying, the dead and the grieving, Anna and Louise reveal the lessons they've learned about life, death, love and loss. Together they've created a profound but practical guide to rethinking the one thing that's guaranteed to happen to us all. We are all going to die, and that's ok. Let's talk about it.
This is a book about life and living, as much as it's a book about death and dying. It's a reflection on the beauties, blessings and tragedies of life, the exquisite agony and ecstasy of being alive, and the fragility of everything we hold dear. It's as simple and as complicated as that.

Death. Intellectually, everyone knows it's coming, but according to coauthors Lyons (an end-of-life doula) and Winters (a funeral director), not enough people prepare for this inevitability or even think about it. This empathetic and straightforward compilation tackles the subject head-on, explaining in clear terms what happens when people die; details about burial, cremation, and funerals; how individuals manifest grief, how to help, what to say, and what to do when things have been left unsaid. The authors rely on their considerable experience to anticipate a multitude of concerns, ranging from practical considerations to mourning etiquette to dealing with unthinkable tragedy. They communicate through an array of formats: essays, a recipe, anecdotes, poems, post-it notes, and lots and lots of lists. Their team-authorship is effective and engaging, and makes it easy for readers to dip in and out at will. Britishisms abound but don't interfere, and the practical advice and sympathetic reassurances have universal applications. The authors begin with a simple observation: ""In this book, the word death appears 568 times. The word life appears 641 times. So although this is a book about death, it's actually a book about life."" This should be required reading for all the living.COPYRIGHT(2021) Booklist, ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
